LET'S GET SPOOKY WV FILMMAKERS: ON OCTOBER 22-25, VandaliaTV is hosting a "SPOOKY" FILM SPRINT! We want YOU to create a "spooky" film to air on a VTV Live Stream and live on our website.

Email WatchVandaliaTV@gmail.com with the subject line "Spooky Film Sprint" before October 22nd to register. 

 

How it works:

At 12PM THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22nd we will email out random prompts to registered filmmakers. You will use these prompts as inspiration for your project any way you see fit. Over the next 72 hours you will WRITE, SHOOT, & EDIT an original short film that will be turned in BY 12PM SUNDAY OCTOBER 25th on our website's submission form. 

 

Your Film:

Your 6 MINUTE film will incorporate the prompts provided in some way. Get creative! You DO NOT HAVE TO MAKE A HORROR FILM. We went with "Spooky Film Sprint" for a reason. Make a comedy, a drama, a rom-com, anything as long as it's "spookily" themed and utilizes the prompts in some way! 

 

The Prize:

Cash prizes will be awarded to 3 films voted on by multiple judges. All selected films will air on a VTV live stream, and be featured front and center on our website for the Halloween season. 

 

The Rules:

• The film must be an original idea, created specifically for this sprint. No prior works should be submitted.
   

• Films should not exceed 6 minutes in length. Films with a longer runtime will be disqualified. 
   

• Please make sure the final film is in a usable file format (mp4, mov, wmv, etc.) 
   

• No use of copyrighted material like: music, footage from existing properties, copyrighted images, etc. These films will air online and are subject to copyright violations. 
   

• Filmmakers MUST REGISTER before 10AM October 22nd.
   

• Films MUST BE SUBMITTED by the deadline of 12PM October 25th.
   

Your Safety: 

We understand and fully recognize we are in the midst of a very real global pandemic. Please be mindful of your own safety, and the safety of others while creating your work. This means: Limit the size of your cast and crew. Only work with others that you feel safe around. Consider the safety of your locations. Use social distancing, masks, disinfecting cleaners, and common sense. If you need help acquiring safety supplies such as masks and cleaner, reach out to us and we will help secure them for you. We severely encourage you to take this into account, as the health and safety of you and others is ridiculously important.

 

Disclaimer:

The films will go through a proper judging process, and we are striving to air every submitted film. There are no explicit content restrictions, but these will be screened on social media platforms that do have content restrictions and community standards. 

 

We reserve the right to disqualify films if content is deemed too explicit for a reasonable audience and the social platforms where these will live. If a completed film is in such poor quality that displaying them will impact the enjoyment of the live stream, we also reserve the right to disqualify completed films as well. Be mindful of the potential audience in every way, the goal is to have fun.
